Where are we

"Il sole sull'Arcobaleno"

Santo Stefano del Sole is 10 minutes from Avellino.
It has approximately 1,500 inhabitants.
The heart of the village is at the top of the hill ( 500m ), but most of the houses are scattered around the underlying countryside.
It is lovely and cool in the summertime and you can enjoy the peace and quiet and the birdsong as you breathe in the fresh air.

The surrounding countryside is full of nut groves, and higher up the hillside, there are chestnut groves and beech trees.
At Santo Stefano del Sole, you can go for wonderfull walk in the montain where there is clean air, numerous parks with playgrounds and picnic areas. It is also possible to go horseback riding.
As a result, the area is very popular with local tourists.
They are also attracted by the large choice of restaurants and ‘trattorie’ where all the local specialities are served.
You should try the local dishes made from recipes including meat, game and ‘porcini’ mushrooms.
The home-made pasta and the local wines are also excellent.
